Job Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Education Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our regional team, you will work closely with sector leaders and schools to strengthen educational performance. Your expertise will be essential in identifying areas of need and developing projects to address these issues.

This role requires a deep understanding of education systems in New Zealand, as well as the ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions. If you have a passion for education and are looking for a challenging and rewarding role, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with sector leaders and schools to identify areas of need and develop projects to address these issues.
  • Analyze data and develop effective solutions to improve student outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships within and outside the Ministry.
  • Ensure that sector leaders and schools have access to the resources and expertise needed to improve student outcomes.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent level of practical experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with student achievement data to determine needs and priorities.
  • Experience in developing and implementing projects.
  • An ability to develop strong working relationships within and outside the Ministry.
  • An understanding of education systems in New Zealand and relevant education legislation.
  • An understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga.
  • Skill and experience in making a direct contribution to student achievement in both English and Māori-medium educational settings.
  • An understanding of factors which influence learner achievement and participation.
  • An understanding of National Education and Learner Priorities (NELP), Ka Hikitia, the Action Plan for Pacific Education, and Success for All and how these documents impact on this work.
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively across a diverse range of settings.
  • A current full driver's license.
