Role Description

The Occupational Therapist works within the acute services in the hospital, playing an essential role in the care and rehabilitation of patients recovering from various types of surgeries. The therapist focuses on helping patients regain independence in their daily activities, manage pain, and adjust to physical changes post-surgery, while working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, patient-centred care.

About the Team

We work within a collaborative and interdisciplinary model, ensuring seamless patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings. At Palmerston North Hospital, we are committed to innovation and best practice in rehabilitation and recovery.

About You
  1. A recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Strong problem-solving abilities and a patient-centered approach to care.
  4. A commitment to ongoing professional development and culturally responsive practice.
