About the Role

The Head of Business Development will play a critical role in driving our sales and retention strategy to achieve ambitious growth targets. As a member of our executive leadership team, you will provide strategic guidance and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy, aligning with overall business objectives and market dynamics.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by setting ambitious sales targets, forecasting accurately, and implementing strategies to meet or exceed targets.
  • Sales Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Customer Success Management: Oversee key account management activities, nurturing relationships with strategic clients, and ensuring customer satisfaction and retention.
  • New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including strategic partnerships, customer acquisitions, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Partner Channel Development: Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow and expand the partner channel for cloud communications business. Identify and onboard strategic partners, resellers, system integrators, and consultants to extend market reach and increase sales opportunities.
  • Sales Process Optimization: Continuously improve sales processes, methodologies, and tools to increase sales efficiency and effectiveness throughout the customer journey.
  • Sales Performance Analytics: Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, pipeline health, and conversion rates to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Pricing and Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop competitive pricing models, negotiate contracts, and ensure favourable terms and conditions for the business.
  • Collaboration and Alignment: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including marketing, product management, and operations, to ensure alignment and collaboration on go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and customer success.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Sales Leadership: Proven commercial experience in the New Zealand ICT industry in a sales and channel development role.
  • Minimum 10 Years Senior Sales Management Experience: In the ICT industry.
  • Commercial Acumen: High level of commercial acumen, professionalism, and customer experience focus.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong and confident presentation skills.
  • Natural Relationship Builder: Natural relationship builder at all levels.
