Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children Full time
About Oranga Tamariki

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is committed to ensuring New Zealand is the best place in the world to be a child. We believe that every child deserves to feel safe, have their voice heard, and be surrounded by loving family and community.

We are dedicated to providing proactive and comprehensive care to young people, working in partnership with hapū, iwi, and Māori organisations to find appropriate solutions for tamariki in need.

Our vision is to ensure that our approach is trauma-informed, therapeutic, and reflects the unique needs of each child.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Child Welfare Specialist to join our Intensive Case Management team in Hamilton. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary group to contribute to a culture of care within a therapeutic environment that is relational, restorative, and inclusive.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide social work services that respond to the needs of rangatahi, promote their safety, wellbeing, and support a reduction in offending. You will also support engagement with whānau, working collaboratively to develop and implement plans that meet the unique needs of each child.

To be successful in this role, you must have a sound knowledge and understanding of all systems that affect day-to-day care and support of rangataki, as well as the ability to think creatively and approach problems from different angles.

You will be part of a close-knit team enabling us to deliver an enhanced approach to community integrated care for our rangataki. Each team member plays a key role supporting the delivery of this exciting initiative/pilot, a priority for Oranga Tamariki and the wider Government.
