Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team in Queenstown. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients with mental health issues, working collaboratively with primary healthcare providers, and contributing to service improvement and workforce innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assess and treat patients with mental health issues
  2. Work collaboratively with primary healthcare providers
  3. Contribute to service improvement and workforce innovation
  4. Participate in regular meetings with base hospitals through video conferencing
  5. Contribute to the Southland after-hours on-call roster (frequency negotiable)

Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in psychiatry or equivalent
  • Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent
  • Eligibility for registration with the NZ Medical Council
  • Strong commitment to service user and family/whanau inclusion in service delivery and focus on recovery
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multi-disciplinary team
  • Sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels
