**Job Summary**

The successful candidate will assist in the daily care, management, and welfare of our diverse bird species, while also contributing to conservation efforts both within the zoo and in the field.

You will help create and maintain innovative aviaries and habitats, deliver exceptional visitor experiences, and share key conservation messages about birds with the public.

This role reports to the Team Leader(s) Birds.

You'll be working on a variable roster system including some weekend days and public holidays.

**Responsibilities**

  • Conduct daily checks on bird enclosures to ensure the health and well-being of the animals
  • Participate in the design and implementation of enrichment activities for birds
  • Assist in the development and implementation of breeding programs for various bird species

**Qualifications**

  • At least two years of experience in bird-keeping or a related field
  • Relevant qualification in biological or conservation sciences
  • Strong passion for avian welfare
  • Current full New Zealand Driver's License (manual gearshift preferred)
