About the Role

\

The District Chief Midwife is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strong, visible, professional and clinical leadership to motivate and inspire midwifery and maternity colleagues and the wider health workforce.

\

This role will empower the midwifery and maternity workforce to deliver high-quality patient and whanau care. The successful candidate will be a dynamic senior leader with relevant experience within the New Zealand Public Sector, possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others.

\

Key Responsibilities

\

• Provide strong, visible, professional and clinical leadership to motivate and inspire midwifery and maternity colleagues and the wider health workforce

\

• Empower the midwifery and maternity workforce to deliver high-quality patient and whanau care

\

• Lead the development of advanced and extended practice which support alternative service delivery models, taking a whole-of-system approach to alternative models of care

\

Requirements

\

The ideal candidate should possess:

\
  • \
  • A dynamic leadership style with a proven track record of success in the New Zealand Public Sector\
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others\
  • A deep understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to upholding these principles in all aspects of work\
  • Registration with the Midwifery Council in New Zealand and a current Midwifery APC\
  • At least 5 years' relevant clinical leadership experience, with evidence of ongoing personal, professional and leadership development\
  • Vulnerable Children's Act (VCA) children's worker clearance\
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth\
  • Experience in quality improvement projects or initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and equity-based frameworks, and/or the application of mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings\
