We are seeking an experienced Senior Media Advisor to join our team at the New Zealand Law Society. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping our media strategy and communicating our message to the public, media, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the New Zealand media landscape and be able to create engaging content across various mediums. They will work collaboratively with our Senior Digital Channels Advisor to deliver high-quality results.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in communications or a related field
- No less than eight years' experience in public relations and communications, either in-house or as a consultant
- Experience dealing with reputational risks, issues management, and responding to media queries
- Ability to advise senior stakeholders and establish credibility quickly
- Excellent command of the English language
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proven ability to write concise copy for media, speeches, long-form articles, and social media
- Strong knowledge of house style, proofreading, and editing, particularly for a legal audience
- Understanding of tikanga and the ability to communicate in a culturally competent manner
- Familiarity with the legal environment and groups within the broad legal sector
