Napier City Council is seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Advisor to lead the delivery of community engagement projects and activities. This exciting opportunity will see you work closely with stakeholders, community groups, and internal teams to ensure effective engagement and inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage community engagement projects from planning to execution.
  • Organise and participate in consultations, pop-ups, and community events.
  • Communicate face-to-face, online, and via other channels to build support for Council initiatives.
  • Collect and analyse community feedback to inform decision-making.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing the Citizen's Assembly initiative.
  • Guide Council staff on best practices for communication and engagement.
  • Develop content for consultations and events.
  • Build connections with stakeholders, community groups, and internal teams to align efforts.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in community development, social sciences, or communications.
  • At least four years' experience in community development, communications, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience applying community development and engagement principles to support community wellbeing.
  • Customer-focused with a growth mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Skilled in event planning and coordination.
  • Excellent project and time management abilities.
  • Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi principles and their workplace application.
