This role reports into the Head of Financial Risk Oversight, acting as a Subject Matter Expert on credit risk management regulations, including RBNZ and APRA prudential requirements, lending restrictions, and conduct-related regulations.

You will be responsible for:

  • A compliant credit operating environment.
  • Embedding sustainably compliant processes, controls, and compliance arrangements within the CRM team.
  • Implementing and maintaining compliance arrangements, inspecting, and directing relevant assurance to confirm.
  • Escalating material matters and systemic issues in a timely manner.
  • Influencing and collaborating to resolve credit compliance-related issues.
  • Serving as a risk culture role model and demonstrating leadership across the CRM team.

  • 5+ years of financial risk or non-financial risk management experience, ideally with credit risk types.
  • Expert-level technical expertise on compliance and lending processes.
  • Strong negotiation and consensus-building skills when dealing with internal customers, stakeholders, and team members, as well as building relationships across functional lines.
  • A strong leader who demonstrates a curiosity mindset and creates a team culture.
  • Organisational agility, traversing the organisation at a senior level on various issues, ensuring alignment with the senior leadership team.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo through stakeholder conversations and openness to make change based on feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills, conveying key messages effectively for different audiences.
