Payroll Operations Specialist

As a key member of the University of Otago's Human Resources Division, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality centralized payroll services to approximately 4500 employees across all campuses.

The role requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent communication skills to ensure seamless interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.

You will work closely with the broader Payroll team to process time-critical tasks, prepare and calculate pay runs, and complete associated third-party procedures.

A sound understanding of current NZ employment law and HR practices is essential for this role. You will also be required to demonstrate a reputation for reliability, discretion, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll operations in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Prepare and deliver accurate pay run calculations and related documentation
  • Collaborate with the Payroll team to resolve issues and optimize processes
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries at all times
