We are seeking an experienced Internal Communications Specialist to join our team in Hamilton. This is a rare opportunity to develop your skills in internal communications while working in a rewarding large organisation.

As part of our small but mighty internal communications team, you will be responsible for planning, developing and sharing engaging content with our staff and students across multiple campuses. You will provide operational communications support while maintaining a strategic lens over everything.

This role offers a wide-ranging awareness of the University and the tertiary education sector. You will have the opportunity to distil complex information into essential things that our people need to know, keeping all our fingers on all the pulses.

You will also have the chance to stretch outside of internal comms and lend a hand with external and corporate comms when needed. For more information about the role please see the position description.

The salary for this role is estimated to be in the range of $82,795 - $94,961 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.

This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hours a week) commencing in early 2025 and based on our Hamilton campus.

We are looking for someone with relevant qualifications and experience as a communications professional. You should have a solid grasp of the usual technical suspects (mainly Microsoft 365) and demonstrable proficiency across a range of writing requirements.

You will be able to connect confidently with people at all levels of an organisation and maintain confidentiality where necessary. Our ideal candidate will be able to turn work around quickly under pressure and pay genuinely impressive attention to detail.

The University of Waikato is distinctive for the diversity of its staff and students and encourages applicants with capabilities from all backgrounds to apply.

We want you to be part of our success and enjoy a satisfying work environment with many benefits. The University stands proudly on the world stage as a provider of future-focused, international education and an active player in global research.
