Job Description

This role is focused on the provision of medicines in various stages of clinical trial development. The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic environment with a team of experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day running of clinical trials, including dispensing, liaison with compounding unit, and communication with clinical trial coordinators and trial monitors;
  • Involvement with set-up of clinical trials, including occasional investigator-led studies;
  • Coordinate medicines access programmes such as compassionate supply;
  • Involve in quality improvement initiatives for pharmacy clinical trials team;
  • Support pharmacy audits and projects;
  • Participate in inpatient dispensary roster as required and occasional involvement in weekend rosters.

About the Team/Service

Our pharmacy service is an essential component of the hospital health service, providing pharmacy services to Waikato and rural hospitals, as well as tertiary and advisory support to Te Manawa Taki region. Our team provides comprehensive pharmacy services, from pharmaceutical supply and medicines safety to clinical services and the provision of an outpatient pharmacy, clinical trials, and a compounding suite.

About You

We seek individuals who possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as an integral team member. You must be a New Zealand registered pharmacist with experience preferably 5 years previous experience in hospital pharmacy or at least 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience coupled with relevant other pharmacy experience. Familiarity with trial processes is desirable, and experience of training other staff is also desirable.
