Principal Geospatial Specialist - Data Solutions Lead

The New Zealand Government is seeking a visionary leader to transform our geospatial data management approach. As Principal Geospatial Specialist - Data Solutions Lead, you will shape how we collect, maintain, and deliver high-value geospatial data.

You will lead strategic thinking on next-generation geospatial data management approaches, concentrating initially on topographic feature data and connections with other geographic datasets. Your expertise in data management, processing, and transformation will enable us to design and deliver robust, practical solutions for data processing, automation, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic thinking on next-generation geospatial data management approaches, concentrating initially on topographic feature data and connections with other geographic datasets.
  • Design and deliver robust, practical solutions for data processing, automation, and maintenance.
  • Actively influence and collaborate with external stakeholders to improve data quality at source.
  • Identify and apply emerging technologies and approaches to champion optimal data management and quality control practices.
  • Provide Product Ownership and delivery of national topographic datasets.
  • Share knowledge and build capability across the organisation and beyond.

Requirements:

  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  • Expertise in data management, processing, and transformation.
  • Proven experience in leading and delivering enterprise data management solutions.
  • A deep understanding of geospatial datasets and concepts.
  • Experience applying machine learning and AI applications for data maintenance.
