New Zealand Police is seeking a highly skilled Police Administrative Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for providing administrative support to our investigators, including transcribing audio files, DVDs, and dictation necessary to prepare files for Court or related enforcement action.

As a Police Administrative Assistant, you will be part of a close-knit team that works together to achieve common goals. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and performing other administrative tasks as required.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Office software including Word. You must be able to accurately copy, type, transcribe audio and DVD recordings to a high level of words per minute and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

We are looking for someone who is engaged, motivated, and displays sound judgment to be part of a dynamic, small team. You will need to be able to focus for long periods of time, work well under pressure on occasion, and be able to complete work with accuracy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Transcribing accurately from DVD and audio recordings
  • Typing at 80 to 95 words per minute with a high level of accuracy
  • Providing excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working under pressure while managing conflicting demands
