In our rural hospital medicine specialist role, you will be part of a small, competent, and supportive team providing 24/7 medical cover to a population of approximately 41,000. You will have the opportunity to work in both the Emergency Department and Inpatient Ward, using your varied and broad generalist knowledge and experience to diagnose and treat patients.

We are seeking individuals who are within 3 months of obtaining their Rural Hospital Medicine qualification or hold/be eligible for Specialist Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. About the Role
This role is based at our modern and progressive general hospital in Taupō. The region boasts scenic mountains, lush forests, and geothermal wonders, providing endless opportunities for outdoor activities. The Lakes district has a growing multi-cultural community and is becoming the lifestyle destination of choice.

As a rural hospital medicine specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients in ED and outpatient clinics, through to discharge or stabilising and transferring patients to Secondary/Tertiary Hospitals when required. You will also have the support of other medical staff such as nurses, medical students, and junior resident doctors.

What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary range of $142,000 to $267,980 pro-rated to hours worked plus Senior Medical Officer allowances. You will also receive a Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance for successful long-term and permanent appointments.
