About the Role

Based at our Whitianga office, but with flexibility to work from various locations. This permanent full-time position reports directly to the Freshwater and Marine Biosecurity Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on marine biosecurity internally and to external stakeholders
  • Support the implementation of council's surveillance and advocacy programmes across the region
  • Develop and manage contracts, fostering relationships with iwi, landowners, and other key stakeholders
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a biosecurity-related field (e.g., marine biology, behaviour change, or pest management)
  • Tertiary qualification or relevant industry training is essential
  • Well-developed project management skills and proven communication abilities
