Job Description:About the Role

This position involves providing diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health conditions in children and adolescents. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes cultural support workers, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, a dietitian, and liaison with paediatricians. You will need to collaborate with general practitioners, schools, and other agencies to provide holistic care to patients.

About the Team/Service/Location

You will work within a team that values partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence. The role requires you to engage with families and carers of patients, and to provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team. You will be supported by your peers within the service and the senior leadership of the Mental Health and Addictions Service.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand or hold an equivalent qualification. You should have the ability to work flexibly and feel comfortable with a wide variety of presentations seen in childhood and adolescence. You will also need to be passionate about working with children and families who present with complexity, in a holistic and child-centered way.

The role requires a commitment to continuous quality improvement, and you will need to be able to provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to delivering excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
