Our Mental Health and Addiction Service is committed to providing holistic and child-centered mental health support to children and adolescents in the Hawke's Bay region.
- We provide diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, psychoses, and trauma-related presentations.
- Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively with cultural support workers, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
About the Role
This role involves providing clinical leadership to our multidisciplinary team, particularly in relation to complex clinical problems. You will be supported by your peers within the service and the senior leadership of the Mental Health and Addiction Service.
You will also have opportunities to engage with families and carers of patients, as well as collaborate with general practitioners, schools, Oranga Tamariki, non-government agencies, and local iwi.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to be vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand or hold an equivalent qualification. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality, child-centered mental health support to children and adolescents.
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Engaging with families and carers to ensure their involvement in care planning and delivery.
- Participating in peer review and quality improvement activities to enhance service delivery.
