About the Opportunity

This role offers a fantastic chance to make a real difference in the Waikato region by contributing to water quality improvement and protecting the environment.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Monitoring Officer, focusing on nitrogen management in the Lake Taupo catchment.

You will work closely with stakeholders to build positive relationships and achieve practical outcomes, while also supporting pre-application and technical review functions associated with resource consent applications.

About You

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, experience in compliance, monitoring, and enforcement, and a proven track record of preparing clear concise reports.

An understanding of Te Ao Māori and the ability to demonstrate a clear commitment to working with iwi are essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Monitoring Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking site inspections and assessing environmental data
  • Building relationships with stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes
  • Supporting pre-application and technical review functions associated with resource consent applications
  • Monitoring other resource consent types as required
