About the Role

Are you passionate about environmental management and looking for a challenging opportunity to contribute to water quality improvement? This role focuses on nitrogen management in the Lake Taupo catchment, offering a unique chance to work at the forefront of environmental protection.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and experience in compliance, monitoring, and enforcement. As a Monitoring Officer at Waikato Regional Council, you will be responsible for undertaking site inspections, assessing environmental data, and building relationships with stakeholders to achieve practical outcomes.

You will also support pre-application and technical review functions associated with resource consent applications and monitor other resource consent types as required.

About You

To succeed in this role, you must be great at building positive relationships with stakeholders and have excellent time management, organisation, prioritisation, and proactive communication skills.

You should understand technical issues, communicate effectively, and plan and schedule your own work with minimal supervision.

Demonstrated ability to prepare clear concise reports and an understanding of Te Ao Māori are essential.

Qualifications and Experience

A relevant bachelor's degree in resource management, science, agriculture, or a related field is required, along with 1-3 years of minimum relevant experience in compliance, monitoring, and enforcement, and erosion and sediment control.

Experience using Overseer would be an advantage.
