We are seeking an experienced Animal Ethics Committee Manager to join our Research Ethics Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support and advice to the Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) and other Research Ethics Committees as required.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert advice on University-specific governance policies, improvements, processes, and systems.
  2. Coordinate committee agendas, minutes, adverse event reporting, and support meetings including membership updates.
  3. Assist with reviewing AEC applications, including making determinations about the amendment pathway.
  4. Prepare relevant information and reports required by institutional policies or legislation.
Key Requirements
  • Experience leading a research, regulatory assurance, animal ethics, or regulatory compliance team, preferably in animal ethics and working in a university, Crown Research Institute (CRI), MPI, or other relevant organisation.
  • Ability to pre-screen research ethics proposals with a focus on animal ethics applications.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
  • Ability to recognise, respond, and manage risk to a regulatory team's systems and processes and implement efficient and effective strategies to support Committee processes and procedures to ensure UOA and external regulatory obligations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with a strong focus on performance and service metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience conveying complex ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to build trust, form strong partnerships, and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programmes.
  • High level of computer skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office suite, and a solid ability to quickly develop expertise with new software and the Ethics RM research ethics management system.
