We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our team at Auckland South Corrections Facility (ASCF). As a mental health specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to inmates facing mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities">
  • ">
  • Assess mental health needs and develop care plans for inmates">
  • Implement interventions to support rehabilitation and promote dignity and wellbeing">
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe and culturally responsive healthcare environment">
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with inmates, staff, and stakeholders">

Requirements">

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • ">
  • A current New Zealand Registered Nurse practicing certificate">
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience, ideally in mental health, primary care, or acute/emergency settings">
  • Strong assessment and crisis intervention skills, with experience managing individuals at risk of self-harm">
  • An understanding of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, particularly in relation to Maori health needs">
  • A strong commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi & Te Tiriti o Waitangi">
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal">
  • Resilience, empathy, and a nonjudgmental approach">
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment">
