About the Role

Clinical geneticists play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting patients and their whanau through assessment, diagnosis, and genetic counseling. In this position, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist genetic services across Aotearoa.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist genetic services, including assessment, diagnosis, and genetic counseling for patients and their whanau
  • Collaborate with genetic counselors, referrers, and laboratory experts to ensure high-quality patient-centered care
  • Contribute to genomic medicine advancements and support the next generation of clinicians through teaching and mentoring

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Clinical Genetics
  • Experience in genomic medicine and multidisciplinary genomic meetings (MDM/MDT)
  • A strong commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally responsive care
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient-centered counseling skills
  • A passion for education, mentoring, and research in genetic medicine
