About the Role

As a Clinical Geneticist, you will play a key role in the diagnosis and management of genetic conditions for patients and whanau across Aotearoa.

  • You will provide specialist genetic services, supporting patients through assessment, diagnosis, and genetic counselling.
  • Collaborate with genetic counsellors, referrers, and laboratory experts to ensure high-quality, patient-centred care.
About Our Service/Location

Our Genetic Health Service NZ (GHSNZ) team provides a national, multidisciplinary service delivering clinical genetics care across New Zealand.

Based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital, we work closely with regional teams and outreach clinics, ensuring equitable access to genetic services for all communities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Clinical Genetics.
  • Experience in genomic medicine and multidisciplinary genomic meetings (MDM/MDT).
  • A strong commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally responsive care.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and patient-centred counselling skills.
  • A passion for education, mentoring, and research in genetic medicine.
