About the Role
\This is an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. As a volunteer, you will work one-on-one with participants, helping them develop their friendship skills and enhance their communication abilities.
\The IHC Friendship Programme provides a unique chance to build meaningful connections and foster community engagement. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be patient, and have a good sense of humour.
\You will receive comprehensive training, support from the programme coordinator, and access to resources through the IHC Library. As part of the Volunteering Waikato team, you will have opportunities to meet other volunteers, attend training sessions, and participate in volunteer get-togethers.
\Key Requirements

- Patient and kind approach
- A good sense of humour
- Ability to commit to two hours per week
- Police background check required
