The Job Description

As a Principal Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the development of complex applications using Node.js and Angular within an AWS cloud environment. Your role includes mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet customer needs.

  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance applications using Node.js and React, Angular
  • Write efficient and maintainable code using JavaScript/TypeScript for server-side (Node.js) and client-side (Angular) applications
  • Create technical implementation plans and contribute to the technical product roadmap
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Support new staff in their induction and training
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to deliver business-aligned solutions
  • Manage technical debt to ensure maintainability and scalability

About You

You should have at least 6 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on Node.js, Angular, and React. You'll need to provide technical direction to teams in NZ and India and be involved in strategic activities.

This position requires the following skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • AWS Proficiency: Extensive experience with AWS services and cloud architectures
  • Ability to solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity
  • Ability to transition to new engineering languages and frameworks
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
