Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand Idexx Laboratories Full time

IDEXX continues to invest in Veterinary Software with a goal to offer the first vertical SaaS platform for Animal Health. We're growing both our capacity to deliver impactful software and the technical expertise to tackle future challenges relating to scale. Auckland's home to our global software center of excellence where we develop a portfolio of cloud platforms and applications.

We're seeking a Technical Lead to build and manage a brand new Data Services squad here in Auckland where your squad's primary focus is streaming data from all platforms in the IDEXX Veterinary Software portfolio.

You'll drive the vision for data solutions, designing architectures to capture, integrate, organize, centralize, and maintain data. Leading a team of data management experts, you will focus on handling disparate data sources and developing frameworks to organize data systems and applications, ensuring optimal access, performance, and security. Your team will align data architecture with enterprise architecture to ensure smooth operations and collaborate with business stakeholders, providing guidance and reference materials to support the ongoing evolution of the IDEXX data ecosystem.

We work with modern web technologies, including TypeScript, Go, and cloud-native architectures, to develop robust and maintainable solutions. With a strong focus on DevOps and automation, you'll contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and system reliability. If you're passionate about building cutting-edge applications in a fast-moving environment and enjoy working with event-driven architecture, domain-services, containerization, and distributed systems, we'd love to hear from you

Some key responsibilities of your role:

  • As a leader, you inspire, mentor, and train a cross-functional squad to deliver complete value streams. You'll oversee squad members, ensuring their software meets high standards, aligns with the product roadmap, and supports the overall technical strategy.
  • Your primary goal is to build effective, engaged engineering teams, typically a single Squad. Working closely with Product Managers, Architects, and Leadership, you'll balance technical quality, team satisfaction, and delivery outcomes for users.
  • The secondary goal is to lead by example—whether as an engineer, architect, or advocate for quality assurance. Your expertise in any of these areas will allow you to provide guidance and mentorship that empowers your teams.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science / information systems or an industry qualification equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Proven technical people leader and influencer.
  • Experienced in evolving culture and process towards better engagement, agility, automated testing, and DevSecOps.
  • Systems and/or software design.
  • Familiarity with modern web technologies (such as React), and cloud backend technologies (such as GoLang, Typescript, .NET, Ruby, Java).
  • Agile processes including Scrum, Kanban, and/or others.

What you can expect from us:

  • Structured onboarding, induction, ongoing training and transparent performance driven professional development.
  • Rewarding salary packages including lucrative incentive schemes for all.
  • Continuous L&D (both internal and externally).
  • Great tech kit for both work and personal use.
  • Hybrid working with a great office space to collaborate - including a gym and rooftop breakout space
  • Coffee + snacks + catered lunches at least twice a week (Food Truck Friyay).
  • Dog friendly office.
  • Fully subsidized Southern Cross Health insurance.
  • Part subsidized parking via Parkable.
