About the Role

We are seeking two highly skilled Registered Nurses to join our team at the Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, providing nursing care of the highest quality in accordance with the Nursing Council of New Zealand scope of practice (Registered Nurse).

Company Overview

The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand, serving the four Northern District Health Boards and five prisons. We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services.

Job Description

You will be working within an ethical framework with strong boundaries, providing care to patients in a mixed gender Forensic Inpatient Minimum Secure Kaupapa Maori Unit. Our Model of Care incorporates Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles and is built around Te Whare Tapa Wha, incorporating Maori concepts and values that work alongside western approaches to psychiatric treatment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Mental health experience with scope to work in a mental health setting and minimum Level 2 – competent healthcare portfolio
  • Current PDRP and full NZ driver's licence
  • Cultural competence with a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Ability to be a positive role model to others with a good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure
