Sports Operations Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Sports Operations Manager to lead our organisation's growth and development in Waikato, New Zealand.
Company Overview:
Sport New Zealand is dedicated to advancing hockey in the region, supporting player pathways, and enriching our community through sport. Our mission is to create a world-class hockey experience that inspires participation, excellence, and passion.
Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per annum depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan to drive the growth and development of hockey in Waikato, aligning with Sport New Zealand's vision and objectives.
2. Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, leading staff and volunteers to achieve organisational goals and ensure effective facility and venue management.
3. Governance & Reporting: Present regular performance, financial, and strategic updates to the Board of Directors and ensure governance practices are transparent and aligned with the organisation's goals.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as a representative of Sport New Zealand at community and national events, building relationships with key stakeholders and promoting the organisation's vision and mission.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven senior management experience in sports management or a similar environment.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with experience in commercial development, sponsorship, and fundraising.
- Understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Passion for hockey or a keen interest in sports and community development is advantageous.
