East Sector provides an assessment and treatment service for tangata whaiora (consumers) experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whanau (family) - both in the community and alongside inpatient services.About YouWe are looking for a professional and highly motivated nurse to join our team.
To be successful in our team you will need to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work.
You will enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multi-disciplinary team, working in collaboration with professionals who recognize the importance of providing quality care and services to their patients, friends, and whanau.
Interacting with a variety of stakeholders, you will have the ability to effectively manage and prioritize a caseload in a case management position.You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and in collaboration with our tangata whaiora and their family/whanau, primary care, community supports, and our inpatient teams.It is essential that you have the ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritize your tangata whaiora's needs appropriately and in a timely manner.You will case manage a caseload of tangata whaiora who you will proactively engage with and support to engage with their treatment and other holistic supports.Highly developed risk assessment skills are important as is your ability to develop effective rapport with people who may be mentally unwell or distressed.Assessment, development of treatment plans, and liaising with whanau and other carers, NGOs, police, probation, and other services is all part of the Community Mental Health Nurse role.Skills and experienceIn order to be successful in this role, the following is required:Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scopeIdeally, but not essential, 2+ years' experience working within any area of mental healthHave a full New Zealand driver's licenseKnowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o WaitangiExcellent interpersonal skills and relationship buildingThrives in a fast-paced environment in a varied roleWorking at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
