Are you an experienced policy practitioner who enjoys working on a diverse range of complex policy problems?
The Policy team at Kapiti Coast District Council is looking for keen problem solvers with a passion for crafting high-quality, evidence-based policy advice.
We want people with finely-honed technical policy skills that are ready to jump into a busy and varied work programme that is of high interest to our elected officials.
Strengths in influencing, communication and relationship management are important to us, as our work programme is delivered collaboratively with our colleagues across council.
We are currently seeking a Senior Policy Advisor (full-time, permanent), as well as an intermediate Policy Advisor (fixed-term, twelve months - maternity leave cover).
Skills and experience: Ability to scope, undertake, and manage complex policy projects that deliver on strategic and organisational priorities Demonstrated understanding and experience of policy development methodologies and tools Ability to translate analytical findings into compelling advice that clearly identifies the issue, provides options, and makes clear, evidence-based recommendations Ability to effectively influence, gaining the trust and confidence of others, including demonstrated professional ability to relate to a wide range of people with differing levels of experience and understanding within and outside the organisation A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent, with at least six years' experience in a similar or related role for senior advisor, or four years' for intermediate advisor Regulatory-focused policy experience is an advantage, but not required Please find the job description for Senior Policy Advisor here: https://expressonline.haineslink.co.nz/pdfs/768214_JobDesc.pdf Please find the job description for the Policy Advisor here: https://expressonline.haineslink.co.nz/pdfs/768214_JobDesc.pdf About us Beautiful beaches and a short journey to or from Wellington make the Kapiti Coast a great place to live and work.
