Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

ABOUT THE COMPANYOur client is a reputable Freight Forwarder of 25 years who specialize in Import, Export & Coastal Sea Freight cargoes (FCL & LCL), Warehousing & Distribution, and Customs Brokerage services. They have three operational offices across the country with Christchurch being the head office.ABOUT THE ROLEOur client is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to join the national organization. This new role will be focused on the North Island and will require some travel to manage the territory. Ideally, the role will be based between Auckland and the Bay of Plenty or the central North Island region. This is a hunting role with business opportunities around the wider North Island region. You will need to build strategic working relationships with customers, influencing decisions and making sound financial interpretations with a solid knowledge of our client's products, services, procedures, and processes.ABOUT YOUOur ideal candidate will have a passion for sales and a proven industry track record that demonstrates your achievements. The primary responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to):Finding, developing, and managing new customer opportunitiesMaintaining and developing existing customers for additional growthLiaising directly with shipping lines for relevant pricing supportWorking collaboratively with the broader sales teamExcellent time management and organizational skillsThinking outside the box and using your initiativeAttention to detailA team player with the ability to work well under pressurePro-active and resourceful with excellent time managementB2B solution selling experienceCargoWise experience would be an advantageStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenExcellent negotiation and numerical skillsProfessional attitude and presentation as well as being highly motivatedAbility to seal the deal
