Position OverviewBreakfast is New Zealand's most watched Breakfast show providing Kiwis with a great way to start their day with a wide variety of news, sport, and entertainment content.
We are looking for an exceptional Executive Producer to continue driving the current success of the show.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the programme.
You will have responsibility for delivering a high performing programme that meets both the editorial ambitions of Breakfast and its agreed targets of quality, budget and ratings.
You'll also be responsible for ensuring Breakfast works collaboratively to enhance the 1 NEWS brand.
You will be responsible for making sure Breakfast remains Aotearoa's leading morning news TV programme; to drive the on-air and off-air team to create content that resonates on-air and online.
You will have overall editorial and leadership responsibility for Breakfast.
In this role, you'll need to be brimming with ideas, energy and be audience-first in your outlook.
A proven track record in leading teams, in innovation and delivering great content is essential.
You will have the flexibility and resilience to cope with the demands of three hours of rolling news coverage every morning.
In this role, you will need to be passionate about news and current affairs and making sure our audience starts the day informed and smiling.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo be successful in this role, you will need:
Demonstrated extensive news journalism experience preferably in television.Wealth of experience delivering partnership content, managing needs of audience and clients effectively.Strong editorial management, coupled with high editorial integrity.Strong leadership and people management skills; proven track record of successfully leading and developing a high performing team.Demonstrated ability of identifying and analysing new trends and successfully putting into practice.Ability to be hands-on where required, coupled with the ability to take a big picture view.Possesses extensive knowledge of the industry including legislative requirements, practising codes, and NCA policies and procedures.Knowledge of television operational and production processes, including new technology would be beneficial.Maintains an excellent general knowledge and a keen awareness of local, national and international events and across daily news developments.Demonstrated experience and ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.Ability to challenge, negotiate and influence stakeholders whilst maintaining relationships.Ability to operate in a fast-paced transformative environment and maintain sound judgement while under pressure and to tight deadlines.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and spoken, coupled with the ability to listen effectively to understand other viewpoints and deal with conflict.Demonstrated budget and resource management experience.Ability both to conceptualise and to convert concepts into practical implementation.Tolerance of risk and ambiguity; coupled with the ability to manage all levels of change.Decisiveness in decision making, coupled with the ability to solve problems.Application ProcessIf you would like to find out more about this amazing opportunity, please feel free to call our Head of Talent Acquisitions, Philly Irvine, mobile 021 564 691, she loves to chat about new careers.
