You will be an essential part of our Corporate Services team, providing sound legal and commercial advice for other teams and the projects they deliver.
Your strategic support and advice will contribute to mitigating risks, enhancing opportunities and meeting the needs of all parties.Reporting to the Head of Legal, Risk & Intellectual Property, you can be based in our Hamilton, Wellington or Lincoln office.In the role you will support the business by:Ensuring consistent and strategic management of research and business proposals and contracts.Offering strategic, insightful, timely, and accurate advice to business partners in their co-funding and supplier engagements.Assessing legal and commercial business risks, using your judgement to invest an appropriate level of effort based on the materiality of the matter.Collaborating with external legal advisors on specialist matters, ensuring relevant outcomes for the organisation.Driving outcomes through influencing stakeholders and negotiating.Operating with a continuous improvement and collaborative mindset.Helping to create a fit for purpose strategy, that balances the challenges of industry sector good, legal and commercial risks, and scientific research.About youYou will have a passion for problem solving and a strategic approach to achieving relevant outcomes for DairyNZ.
Your curiosity will help in the sometimes-ambiguous work and priorities, and your solution-focused and proactive approach to collaborations will enable those that you work with.As a team player you'll be the go-to legal liaison at DairyNZ.
You will be able to take initiative, work at pace and have a strong ability to build productive relationships, all while bringing a sense of fun and energy to the role.We'd love to hear from you if you have:Bachelor of Laws.7-9 years' experience in contract management with sound knowledge in contract law.Experience in building trusting and collaborative relationships with stakeholders.A high level of attention to detail.High levels of self-motivation and organisation, and able to plan for and meet deadlines.It would be beneficial, but not essential, if you have:Experience with Government procurement processes, particularly in the Science sector.Experience with intellectual property agreements including IP licences, data sharing agreements, R&D development and joint project agreements.Privacy law, including preventing and mitigating risks from privacy breaches.Experience with RMA and environmental law, biosecurity and / or local government.Why you should join usMake a difference - Together with our farmers, help us drive positive progress for the sector and country we love.
