West Auckland, New ZealandApplications close: 17 March 2025Hospice West Auckland has been providing specialist palliative care services to the community of West Auckland for more than three decades.
Our population is mixed urban/rural and ethnically diverse.
We are motivated by ensuring that our patients receive care they need when and where they need it.The service is busy, and we are visiting patients in their homes daily, to manage their symptoms or end of life care.
We run outpatient clinics within our hospice facility at Beach Road in Te Atatu Peninsula.
Our outpatient facility also provides us an opportunity to undertake procedures on site.
We run an intensive Hospice at Home service called Korowai Care for that extra intensive support for patients who do not want to leave home.
Otherwise, patients who prefer inpatient hospice services are referred to Harbour Hospice.About the JobYou would join two other palliative medicine specialists and work as part of a strong interdisciplinary team which includes nursing expertise, social work, massage therapists, physiotherapists, talking therapies, art therapy, a spiritual advisor, and a Rongoa Maori practitioner. You will be part of a wider peer group of specialists and doctors with special interests, that includes the teams working in Te Whatu Ora Waitemata and Harbour Hospice. You would be included in the on-call roster which would be 1/4 weekends 1 x weeknight.Hospice West Auckland is accredited as a training site so there is the opportunity to supervise Advanced Trainees in palliative care.
Specialist interests within palliative care are also welcomed. You will be a resilient team player who is enthusiastic about a role in a community palliative care service.
You would bring new ideas about how and what services could be delivered to our community, and we can strongly support you to support us to implement these. If you would like more information about the role or want to discuss part-time options or a delayed start date, please contact Dr Celia Palmer (******).
