Programme and Administration Officer at NZ Ombudsman, AucklandMo te Tari o te Kaitiaki Mana Tangata – About the OmbudsmanThe Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies.
The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration.
The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.The Disability Rights Team (DRT) supports the role of the Ombudsmen as part of the Independent Monitoring Mechanism (IMM) under the Disability Convention.
A key part of our vision is to break down barriers that prevent disabled people from participating equally in society.Mo te turanga - About the roleThe Programme and Administration Officer DRT will provide administrative and coordination support for key DRT work programmes, projects and day-to-day operations of the team.This is a busy role providing administrative and coordination support.
We are looking for someone who is reliable and organised with great communication skills, attention to detail, and who thrives in a collegial team environment.
We are also looking for solid administration experience, including writing and data entry, plus analysis and problem solving skills.This is a permanent part-time role (30 hours a week) based in Auckland.
Please note some travel may be required for this position.To be successful in this role you will have:Significant experience working in a disability related organisation or position doing an administration and programme coordination role.Understanding of the disability community, rights and meeting people's access needs.Superior planning and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.The ability to work effectively across multiple projects and activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with a willingness to contribute to a constructive, positive team environment.High level of integrity, discretion and resilience.Excellent verbal and written communication.Advanced MS Office Excel skills.Becoming part of an exceptional team in a dynamic organisation, where the work is challenging and rewarding.
