Job DescriptionIntroduction SPCA is one of the best loved and most respected charities in New Zealand, with a proud history of helping animals in need and advocating for animal welfare since 1872.
About the role Casual role - you will agree to the hours you are able to work and cover busy days on a weekly basis.This role will help with foster coordination, getting animals into temporary homes and will also help cover the customer services teams.Your enthusiasm and dedication will see you: Provide for the physical health and behavioural needs of all animals at the centre.Help develop, coordinate and maintain foster programs at the centre.Assist with cover in our customer service team during busy times.Help manage and support our volunteers and volunteer programmes.Ensure effective, efficient and consistent running of all foster programs and initiatives.Support the animal attendants, foster families and volunteers and ensure centre standards are maintained.What we need from you: Have practical animal-handling experience and knowledge and experience in behaviour and basic care.Experience and confidence in handling animals with a range of temperaments.Experience in coordination and being a friendly, approachable people-person, willing to go the extra mile.An understanding of animal behaviours and zoonotic diseases is desirable.Experience in supervision of volunteers is desired.High level of communication, written and verbal, including confidence in presenting to groups.Experience and evidence-based skills in animal care, handling, behaviour, enrichment and welfare.Working with SPCA offers numerous benefits that we call "Purr-ks".
