Publications and Communications Coordinator at NZ Ombudsman, Wellington Mo te Tari o te Kaitiaki Mana Tangata – About the Ombudsman The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies.
The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration.
The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.
The Publications and Digital team is a newly established team dedicated to delivering high quality content and digital solutions that support the Chief Ombudsman's communications goals and enhances his public presence.
Our new Publications and Digital team will work closely alongside our Communications and Media team to deliver impactful messaging and content across various channels.
We focus on collaboration, creativity and attention to detail to ensure we engage and inform our audiences effectively.
Mo te turanga - About the role In this role you will gain exposure to a range of communications work while supporting the team managers by maintaining an overview of work programmes and tracking key events.
You will provide secretarial support, including meeting coordination, minute taking and managing follow up on action items.
Additionally you will assist with financial administration, handling expense reconciliations and budget related tasks, as well as coordinating travel arrangements.
As the key contact for the Publications and Digital team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring smooth communication and operations while contributing to a range of communications related activities.
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a busy and collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate will have: A tertiary qualification in Communications or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in communications, and providing administration and coordination support.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to use your creative flair and analytical skills to manage multiple priorities.
A genuine commitment to cultural awareness, with knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and Te Reo Maori or a willingness to learn.
You'll also be someone who demonstrates strong problem solving abilities, teamwork, and a professional commitment to the values and goals of our Office.
