We're seeking enthusiastic individuals to fill two key roles: Waste Yard Manager/Event Waste Manager and Waste Yard Assistant. These positions are integral to ensuring smooth operations and effective waste management at events like concerts, festivals, and sports gatherings.
1. Waste Yard Manager/Event Waste Manager Location: Christchurch
Job Type: Part-Time / Casual
$35-$40 p/h
As the Waste Yard Manager/Event Waste Manager, you will lead the coordination and execution of waste diversion strategies during public events. This role involves overseeing waste management activities, supervising staff, and implementing strategies to maximize resource recovery and sustainability efforts during each event.
Key Responsibilities: Event Waste Management: Develop and implement waste management plans tailored to each event, including staffing, waste station placement, and waste reduction strategies.Coordinate on-site teams, ensuring proper waste segregation, collection, and disposal.Provide reports on waste volumes, recycling rates, and environmental impact post-event.Work closely with event organizers to meet waste minimization goals and collaborate with vendors and contractors for effective waste disposal.Skills & Qualifications: Experience in waste management or environmental services.Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a passion for sustainability.Ability to manage teams in dynamic, fast-paced event environments.Driver's license required. 2. Waste Yard Assistant Location: Christchurch
Reports To: Waste Yard Manager
Job Type: Part-Time / Casual
$25-$30 p/h
We are also looking for a Waste Yard Assistant to support the Waste Yard Manager in all aspects of waste management before, during, and after events. This role is crucial in maintaining a smooth workflow during events and ensuring the efficient handling of waste materials.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the Waste Yard Manager in pack-in, on-the-day, and pack-out operations, maintaining compliance with safety standards.Take on various roles during events, such as bin management, litter picking, and educating attendees at waste stations.Help with event planning, including organizing bin layouts and shift schedules to ensure smooth operations.Support with sorting, processing, and moving recyclable materials, and maintaining event site cleanliness.Provide detailed post-event reports with insights for waste reduction improvements.Skills & Qualifications: Previous experience in waste management or similar roles (preferred but not required).Strong teamwork and communication skills.Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks.Driver's license required.Why Join Us?
