**About the role**

Due to an internal promotion and team expansion we are recruiting for two Health and Safety Advisor roles, both largely generalist roles but each with a particular focus area.

As part of a small team of three, you will also provide general health and safety support to the business and back-up for the team. Your role will include:

- Promoting progressive worker-centric safety management practices
- Supporting WEL’s approach to “‘Good Work”’ - meaning when we work well we get the best outcomes, including health and safety outcomes
- Providing the primary point of contact for safety leaders in the field
- Coordinating and providing leadership to WEL’s Health and Safety Committee
- Developing Safe Work Procedures with our stakeholders for high-risk activities
- Leading Learning Teams to learn from incidents and everyday work
- Inducting and supporting Facilities contractors
- Supporting continuous improvement in H&S management practices and performance including managing worker Field Action Reports (FAR)
- Injury and return to work management
- Helping to organise and deliver company safety events.

**Skills and Experience**
- Recognised qualification in H&S management, with a trade or tertiary level qualification being desirable
- 3+ years working in a similar role within a complex, high-risk work environment
- Experience in modern safety philosophies such as Safety II, Good Work, HOP
- An understanding of critical risk and how that informs H&S practice
- Ability to write and deliver reports and presentations, coaching and training to individuals and groups
- Knowledge of NZ safety requirements
- Experience working in a Utilities / Infrastructure / Construction environment is desirable.
