**_ Ward B3/SARA_**

Ward B3/SARA is a very busy acute General Surgical ward and Surgical Assessment Review Area which is based in the Waipapa building at Christchurch Hospital. Ward B3/SARA has ward clerk support 7 days a week, 07:00 to 23:30 to provide support to the nursing team and other members of the interdisciplinary team. This role is pivotal on the ward and requires a - can do - attitude. The ward B3/SARA team is very hard working but has a good sense of humour and is very welcoming to new team members.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:
The ward clerk is the - communication hub - of the unit and undertakes the following as well as jobs as delegated by the Clinical Nurse Manager or Nurse in charge.
- Meet and greet patients and whānau and show them around the ward and to the bedside
- Confidentiality - check with patients and whānau on how they would like their name displayed or not
- Management of phone calls into ward/unit
- Contact person for the ward/ unit and communicate between departments and the MDT
- Administration work such as supply ordering, equipment ordering, maintenance requisitions, cleaning orders and entering data such as the ward roster
