Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand’s largest state school with over 25,000 ākonga (students) per year. Te Kura provides distance education from early childhood level to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult ākonga. They have regional offices in Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton, and Christchurch, with kaimahi (staff) also working in the community to support students’ learning.

Te Kura’s vision is for its ākonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, enabling them to participate as productive members of their communities. That means putting its ākonga at the centre of their learning by providing a flexible, personalised approach, so that they can choose when and where they learn._ Ki te tī, ki te tā, ki te katoa - Anytime, anywhere, anyone._

Te Kura has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Chief Executive’s Office and contribute to its mission to engage with and support every ākonga to strengthen their love of learning, facilitate their current and future successes in life, broaden their horizons and honour who they are and where they come from. Te Kura is particularly focussed on addressing the inequities in the education system through its response to and engagement with ākonga who are unable to attend their local school.

The Chief Executive’s Office is a small team providing high-quality advice and support to the Board of Trustees, Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executives, and other Te Kura kaimahi. The core functions of the CE’s Office are internal and external communications, planning and reporting, data analysis, strategic and operational policy development, risk management, legislative compliance and executive support.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Experience in policy and risk management and/or planning and reporting in the New Zealand public sector
- Demonstrable commitment to building your knowledge and skills across tikanga and te reo Māori
- Proven successful experience supporting, influencing and coordinating across work groups, including when working with virtual teams
- Strong problem resolution skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve problems, working with others across diverse perspectives
