About Us
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, co-ordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social wellbeing of New Zealanders.
We serve over a million people, working out of more than 250 centres around the country. It is likely that every New Zealander will come into contact with the Ministry at some point in their life.
Our team
The Director DCE's Office within Service Delivery, provides high-level specialist advice and is the key interface with Ministers offices and the Office of the CE. In addition this team provides specialist expertise in escalated issue management, strategic and operational risk management, business continuity and emergency management on behalf of MSD.
The Issue Resolution team is part of the DCE's Office and we provide support and advice to a wide range of key stakeholders including the Minister's office, the CE's Office, Regional Offices, the MSD Communications team and other business units across the organisation.
We work to uphold Service Delivery's reputation through the visible delivery of robust risks and issues management.
About the role
The position requires the Senior Advisor to deliver on Ministerial requests, Ministerial and executive correspondence, media enquiries, direct client contacts, Official Information Act (OIAs) requests, Ombudsmen and Privacy Act complaints.
A key focus is providing advice and support to regional offices in relation to complex client cases.
Additionally, the Senior Advisor will be required to provide information and assistance directly to the DCE. The Senior Advisor needs to be able to provide high quality advice on high profile issues, under tight timeframes and in the context of competing priorities.
About you
- Exceptional analytical skills, including numerical proficiency
- Excellent relationship management skills at a senior level and stakeholder engagement and management
- Demonstrated ability to write clear and concise reports to a high standard at both a strategic and operational level
- Problem solving and risk management ability
- Knowledge of New Zealand government structures and process and policy formulation process
- Confident and able to influence others without authority
- Acts like a mentor to others to raise team capability
Naturally, you will possess the ability to work well in a busy team environment.
This role is an excellent opportunity to share your central government agency experience and influence others.
You will also have the opportunity to get involved in enhancement projects for front-line Service Delivery business groups.
Position Description
**Salary range**: $95,546.00 - 120,778.00
