Regional Asphalt Plant Production Manager

As Regional Production Manager you will be responsible for the full management of asphalt production plants in the region.
You will use your experience of asphalt plant operations to ensure all production activities are undertaken in a safe, efficient, and profitable manner, and will provide management and leadership to your plant teams as well as assisting in some elements of commercial activity.
Key elements of this role are to effectively participate in the Asphalt production team, contributing to business planning and development and assist National Managers in the Development of business plans for production operations for Downer through industry leading thought leadership.
Day to day you will be involved in:
- determining, implementing, and monitoring production strategies, policies, and plans.
- controlling the operation of production plant and quality procedures through planning of maintenance, designation of operating hours and supply of parts and tools.
- develop relationships with key customers in the Production field, anticipating and resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for new business.
- planning details of production activities in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time available and labour requirements.
A component of travel within your region will be required. Ideally you would be based at our Penrose Asphalt Plant, or another of your plants by negotiation. You will be based in the northern Region, i.e., Hamilton, Auckland, and Whangarei, although with periodic visits across NZ for a few days at a time to visit other sites and provide cover.

You will be an experienced Production Manager with a good understanding of the construction industry and all the challenges and opportunities that it brings.
Although it is desirable to hold a tertiary qualification, we will also accept at least 3 years of skilled work experience to substitute a formal qualification in engineering, business management or a related field.
Preferable to have the following:
- Proven management experience with responsibility and accountability for staff, plant and return on investment.
- Proven project management experience and a suitable level of experience in the Asphalt Production industry.
- Successful in the development of positive internal and external client relationships
- Proven track record in developing a culture that supports SQE management, encouraging and rewarding excellence.
- Clear demonstration of leadership behaviours that empower others to make decisions, deliver and succeed.
