**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

Kahu Taurima is the strategic programme of work under Te Pae Tata that will drive the integration of maternity and early years services for a child's first 2,000 days, from conception to five years old, across Aotearoa. The Kahu Taurima programme of work will change the commissioning of services to support our whānau and materially improve the first 2,000 days of life by working with whānau, communities and service providers to design and commission integrated models of care for culturally appropriate, holistic health and social support for all whānau.

- Significant relevant experience in varied environments
- Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes.
- The ability to communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
- Experience navigating and operating within the machinery of government or in a regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of investment plans, contract management and procurement plans
