The advisor will be part of a team where they are supported not only to build the cultural capability of the organisation but their own understanding and confidence. Te Tautiaki is Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga organisational strategy and action plan for lifting our people's cultural capability to understand and respond to the needs and aspirations of Māori in a genuine way and engage with our treaty partner. This is a unique opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic individual comfortable with te reo and tikanga Māori to implement our Te Tautiaki strategy and drive individual workstreams through to delivery. Te Tautiaki lead our organisation in its strategic commitments to Whāinga Amorangi and achieving the goals of Taukaea our Māori Language plan. The salary range for this role is $71,100 - $86,900 + 3% Kiwisaver contribution. Ō wheako, ō pukenga | About you You will take an enthusiastic and enquiring approach to your work to help build both the cultural capability of the organisation and the understanding and awareness of how the Ministry engages and responds to housing issues facing Māori in Aotearoa today. You will be flexible and approachable, with a track record of operationalising strategy and delivering outcomes. You will be a skilled facilitator, delivering workshops focused on building te reo, tikanga, and history around Māori and Crown treaty relations. An inclusive relationship builder, with a deep understanding for and knowledge of Māori people and culture, you will identify learning development opportunities to inspire people to action and encourage organisational commitment and engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for you to play an integral role in developing and growing our bi-cultural capability. Ideally your skills and experience will include
- Comfortable conversing in te reo Māori, have an in-depth understanding of tikanga and confidence in te reo Māori
- Proven knowledge and experience in working with Māori communities and stakeholders including iwi, hapū and Māori; and ability to create new opportunities
- Proven experience developing and facilitating workshops to build Māori capability within an organisation including developing content
- Be able to confidently provide cultural advice to both internal and external stakeholders
- Be able to demonstrate skills to influence and negotiate through a kaupapa Māori framework to embrace broader leadership practice - facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Have the proven ability to write to a high standard (clear, accurate, concise, appropriate to audience).
