About the Role
We know Payroll and have been processing payroll accurately and compliantly for over 50 years. The Cloud Architect is a new role and in this instance is responsible for leading the cloud design and implementation of our next generation SaaS Payroll Product, Datapay. We are modernising the experience for our customers that sits on top of our rock-solid engine. This role will suit an experienced hands-on architect with a track record of taking concepts from inception to implementation. As a technical leader you will be collaborating with the Product team, Tech Leads/Architects and working with Development teams to maximise our value delivery pipeline as part of our Datapay Agile delivery approach. As a Cloud Architect, you will play a critical leadership role in the design, development, and implementation of our payroll solution platform helping to set cloud best practices, mentor engineers, and ensure end to end quality of work. While the technology selection below is very broad we will expect expert level capability in some areas and general knowledge experience in others and we look forward to discussing that with you at interview.

**What you’ll bring**:
Development expertise and experience
- Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or similar role, designing and implementing cloud solutions in enterprise environments. Extensive experience in Architecture and Design
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture patterns, microservices, serverless computing, and containerization.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes).
- Confidence to engage with our stakeholders, have courageous conversations regarding needs, to ensure the technology platform enables all business requirements for the future.
- Aptitude to mentor other people within the team and wider Datacom, providing technical guidance and leadership on projects
- An in-depth understanding of Public Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Cloud Strategy and Migrations.
- Understanding of security best practices, data privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR).
- A passion for automation

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide inspirational technical leadership and innovative thinking for Public Cloud and Hybrid Cloud models
- Getting hands on, creating POCs and kicking off complex technical initiatives
- Design, architect and code scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions based on business requirements.
- Capturing knowledge continuously as part of your work.
- Mentoring Developers in technical and other complementary team delivery skills.
- Evaluate existing systems and infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and propose cloud-based solutions.
- Ensuring that systems are developed within agreed budgets and time frames and achieving necessary design and systems security standards.
- Working closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure quality solutions are delivered on time.
- Leading communication and collaboration across Product and Engineering teams, to ensure alignment and create successful outcomes.
