**Permanent Full-Time Lifeguard | Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre**

Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.

Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

As a Lifeguard you are responsible for:

- Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers
- Educate and enforace pool rules
- Respond to any First Aid emergencies
- Ensure pool and surrounds are clean at all times

As such, we will provide **ALL** training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.

There is a 40-hour Permanent Full Time Position working **Sunday to Thursday**.

Center is open from 5:30am - 8:15pm Monday - Thursday, 5:30am - 6:45pm Friday & 9am - 5:30pm Saturday & Sunday.

Staff are rostered from 5am - 9pm Monday - Thursday, 5am - 8pm Friday & 7am - 7:30pm Saturday & Sunday.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for people of ages that are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others and can commit to full-time work.
- Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (Any stroke, or a mixture of strokes, can be used)
- Swim 50m breaststroke
- Swim 25m sidestroke
- Retrieve objects from the deepest part of the pool (depth varies across centres)
- Tread water for 5 minutes

The Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (_PLPC_) is required for all lifeguards.

You should be available for the LG training from 25 September and 6 October **or** 16 October - 27 October (Weekdays 8:30am - 4:00pm) at West Wave (however, we can look into alternative training).

We aim to upskill and progress your career, so you can train and take on other functions within our centres, such as Recreation Assistant, Fitness Instructor and more.

By the same token, if we occasionally need some help in other areas such as at our front desk and general customer service duties, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if short staffed or at peak periods.

**Pay Rate: starting living wage**
- Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and is deemed a safety sensitive position. As such applicants will be required to undergo police vetting and a drug test prior to commencing employment._
