**Lifeguard | Moana Nui-a-Kiwa Pool and Leisure Centre**

Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.

Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

As a lifeguard, you are responsible for:

- Providing a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers.
- Educating and enforcing pool rules.
- Responding to any First Aid emergencies.
- Ensuring our pool and the surrounding areas are always clean.

We are looking for 2 permanent 40-hour positions and 1 fixed-term 16 hour position. Shifts will be over a 7 day period and between 5am to 715pm.

Our centre operates from 5am to 715pm, the ability to work early morning, late night, and weekends is crucial.

You will be required to attend the following training dates. Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm:

- 30 September - 11 October 2024

We are also looking for seasonal lifeguards from 11 November 2024 to 28 Feburary 2025. If you are interested, please let us know in the pre-screening questions.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for people who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others. To work as a pool lifeguard in New Zealand, you will need to hold a Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC).
- Swim 200m in under 6 minutes
- Swim 25m sidestroke
- Swim 50m breaststroke
- Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool
- Tread water for 5 minutes

We aim to help you upskill and develop, so that you can train and take on other functions within our centres. Other functions can include being a Recreation Assistant, Fitness Instructor and more.

If we occasionally need help in other areas such as at our front desk or general customer service, as a team member, you may be called on to cover these areas if we are short staffed or during peak periods.
